Ecommerce × ERP integration
Connect your store to your ERP without losing a single order.
Independent, technically accurate guides for connecting Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and Adobe Commerce with custom and established ERP systems — from architecture and webhooks to inventory, refunds, and monitoring.
- orders/create webhook received · HMAC verified
- inbox stored · webhook_id deduplicated
- worker order fetched via Admin API
- map SKUs, tax, shipping validated

What ecommerce-to-ERP integration means
Your store takes orders. Your ERP runs stock, fulfillment, and finance. An integration moves data between them automatically: orders and refunds into the ERP; stock, prices, and tracking numbers back to the store.
Building one that works in a demo is easy. Building one that survives duplicate webhooks, ERP downtime, and holiday traffic is the hard part — and the focus of this site. Read the full definition.
Common challenges
The problems that break integrations in production
-
Duplicate orders
Retries and repeated webhooks create the same order twice in the ERP.
-
Overselling
Stock syncs overwrite sales that have not reached the ERP yet.
-
Missed webhooks
Deliveries fail, arrive out of order, or subscriptions get removed.
-
Data mapping errors
SKUs, taxes, discounts, and shipping methods do not line up.
-
Silent failures
Jobs fail quietly and nobody notices until a customer complains.
-
Architecture choices
Direct code, middleware, or a connector — and what each really costs.

Integration approaches
Three ways to connect an ERP — and when each fits
- 01
Custom integration service
A small service with a queue, workers, and reconciliation. Full control; you own reliability.
Compare the trade-offs - 02
Middleware or iPaaS
A hub with connectors, mapping, and monitoring. Faster for many systems; adds subscription cost.
Compare the trade-offs - 03
Prebuilt connector
Configured, not built. Fast when it fits your ERP and processes; limited when it does not.

Synchronization workflows
Every flow between store and ERP
Each workflow has one owner, one direction, and its own failure modes. Build and monitor them one at a time.
| Workflow | Direction | Key concern |
|---|---|---|
| Orders | Store → ERP | Export once, completely, with the right totals |
| Inventory | ERP → Store | Publish a sellable quantity per location |
| Products & variants | ERP → Store | One variant, one article, one stable SKU |
| Fulfillment & tracking | ERP → Store | Partial shipments and multiple packages |
| Refunds & cancellations | Both | Credit notes, restocking, and who starts what |
| Monitoring | Across all | Catch silent failures in minutes, not weeks |
